NFPA 86, Standard for Ovens and Furnaces, was first issued in its current form in 1985. It has been updated regularly every four years by the Technical Committee on Ovens and Furnaces.
The 2015 edition of NFPA 86 has also been prepared and updated by the Committee. It was issued by the Standards Council on April 29, 2014, and was put into effect on May 19.

Safe practices for all industrial furnace applications can, undoubtedly, save lives. Accordingly, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) some time ago put required safeguards in place for most national combustion standards, most notably “NFPA Standard 86: Standard for Ovens and Furnaces.”
